If the rules for proper handling of contact lenses are not followed, the eye can become infected by various infections. These include bacterial, fungal and parasitic diseases, which can even result in blindness.
Symptoms: pain and stinging, watering and redness, sensitivity to light, swelling of the eyelids, discharge.
Rules for proper use: always remove lenses before sleeping (if left in, the risk of infection increases 8-fold); before putting them in, wash and dry your hands with soap and water; do not rinse lenses with plain water, use only a special solution; do not change the solution without a doctor's advice; replace lenses at least every three months; remove them during swimming and water contact; visit the eye doctor regularly; avoid eye makeup while wearing lenses. Each lens may be used by only one person.
